The archipelago of Bocas del Toro was discovered by the famous navigator Christopher Columbus in 1502, it is located off the north-west coast of Panama. It is separated from the capital by 380 km. The archipelago consists of six major and over 200 smaller islands. The administrative center of the archipelago Bocas Town is situated on the island of Colon. The tourist infrastructure is at the major islands and offers travelers small hotels, beaches, restaurants, and opportunities for ecological tourism.
